There are busy bees, and then there are Marc and Linda. Or busy bees hors catégorie. They traded bustling Antwerp for quiet Morkhoven, and instead of slowing down, they kicked it up a notch. Not only did they renovate their 1800s long-fronted farmhouse, but they also set up a B&B, art.14, and started a saffron farm. And it took off like a rocket. Good for praise from star chefs and the royal family. And you can stay right in the middle of that saffron splendor. The B&B has two rooms and a studio. The former bakehouse is now a guesthouse with a view of the saffron fields, and then there is the solitary Bed On Wheels, an intimate summer retreat in the meadow. It has no electricity, but it does have its own terrace. So you can listen to the silence. Or to the clucking.

After all, chickens roam around the estate, the two Indian runner ducks Spic and Span clear away the snails, Marijn the falcon and Emiel the little owl keep the mouse population under control, and the neighbors' five donkeys provide manure. All this allows the vegetable garden and orchard with antique, rare fruit varieties to flourish. This in turn leads to delicious homemade jams and chutneys that go perfectly with homemade organic bread, straight from the Aga, or would you prefer a slice of homemade cake?
