Atelier van Antonine

About this place
For almost four centuries, the noble d'Ursel family resided in their castle every summer to enjoy the immense estate. Antonine, the duchess, loved painting and in 1878 had a picturesque studio built in a green corner of the grounds: Antonine's Studio. The studio is bathed in light and is therefore used extensively by the artistic duchess. After her death, the place fell into disrepair until the province of Antwerp acquired the entire ducal estate. Antonine's Studio has also been resurrected as an elegant vacation home with four bedrooms and three bathrooms. A charming, brick-built hidden gem.
The painter's studio of yesteryear now serves as a living space and salon and, just like Antonine, allows you to look out over animposing beech cathedral forest. Planted when the studio was built, these trees have grown into giant beeches that invite you to tilt your head back and gaze upward. A striking crystal chandelier hangs from the ceiling, a gift on loan from the current Duke d'Ursel. Authentic elements can be spotted everywhere, and there is even a portrait of Alix, Antonine's sister, painted on site by the duchess. Antonine's Studio is therefore the perfect place to dream away and get a taste of a different life.
We ❤️ the artistic soul of this special studio.
