We are Sophie and Heikki. She is a journalist, he is a photographer and for years we have traveled around the world, together and separately, making reports for newspapers and magazines. One fine day, on the ferry between Calais and Dover, we decided to compile all those special Belgian lodging addresses we knew.
In June 2020, O Animal Belgium was born. A platform with only "coups de coeur," affordable designer hotels, luxurious vacation rentals, charming b&bs, treehouses in the green. Without commission. You always book directly with the owner. Or win win for everyone.
In June 2024, we renamed O Dierbaar België to Club Belgium. Because even across the border, numerous special Belgian accommodations are popping up, each run by Belgian owners. From Spain and Portugal over Crete and Cyprus to Kenya and Morocco and everything in between. After all, Belgian quality knows no boundaries. The website became quadrilingual and was given a calendar.
In June 2025, we launched a Last Minute page and our own Club Belgium Magazine. A brand new inspiration website with under each article the link to our Club Belgium addresses nearby.
