We are Sophie and Heikki.
She is a journalist; he is a photographer. For years, we traveled the world—together and separately—to produce reports for newspapers and magazines. Along the way, we repeatedly discovered unique places to stay, often run by Belgians.
One day, on the ferry between Calais and Dover, we decided to compile those addresses into a single curated travel platform.
In June 2020, O Dierbaar België was launched: a selection of unique Belgian accommodations, ranging from design hotels and charming B&Bs to luxurious vacation homes and treehouses surrounded by nature.
No commissions, no middlemen—you always book directly with the owner. A win-win for everyone.
In June 2024, O Dierbaar België evolved into Club Belgium.
Today, Club Belgium is a curated travel platform featuring exceptional accommodations run by Belgian owners—in Belgium and around the world.
From Spain and Portugal to Crete and Cyprus, and on to Sri Lanka and Morocco: Belgian quality knows no bounds.
The website is now available in four languages and features an integrated calendar.
In June 2025, we launched Club Belgium Magazine, an inspirational website where we share stories about destinations, each linked to our local spots.
