To say that Philip and Ilse have good taste is the understatement of the day. They turned their passion for design into their profession, and both their Loft Living Garden Suite and their Loft Living Boutique are true gems. So when the couple stumbles upon a 1960s villa in Alicante, you can be sure they’ll turn it into another delightful and unique space. No copy-pasting of popular trends here—just authentic materials and special finds, finished with a touch of quirky design. An eclectic, lived-in blend, in other words.

Casa Richello is located at the foot of Coll de Rates—so you might occasionally see Wout or Remco cycling by—and just a half-hour drive from Calpe and Altea. This unique house was built in the 1960s by a Dutch diplomat and remained in the family all this time until Philip and Ilse set their sights on it. The fenced-in property features an olive grove with a mix of old trees and young saplings, providing the house with its own olive oil, and a large Mediterranean garden with a lovely swimming pool. And don’t worry, there are comfortable lounge chairs for all guests. Next to that pool is a pool house, an additional guest suite for two with its own kitchen, sitting area, bedroom, and bathroom. Ideal for those who want a little me-time now and then.

The villa itself features 3 bedrooms and plenty of cozy nooks. From the sitting area with a fireplace to the cozy reading corner and an additional lounge area with another fireplace on the^second floor. The^fourth floor also boasts a rooftop terrace. And no matter where you settle in, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views everywhere. Because here, it’s not just the characterful interior but also the impressive panorama that vies for your attention. And of course, you’ll want to explore the surroundings. That’s easy to do, too, since a mountain trail starts right at Casa Richello, taking you on a breathtaking journey. As you can see, this is a place by and for bon vivants. In summer and winter alike, as the two fireplaces provide extra coziness.
