In South Holland, the idyllic Goeree-Overflakkee pops up. Officially still an island, but thanks to dams now connected to the mainland and to Schouwen-Duiveland, another Dutch island. The laid-back island vibe remained intact though, making it seem like you're leaving the whole world behind you here. And in Dune Seaside Getaway all the more so.

This brand-new pavilion finished in padauk wood is tucked away on the edge of Ouddorp, 2 km from the lighthouse and surrounded by protected dunes. A footpath winds through the dunes and takes you to the beach, which is 600 meters away. It is perhaps one of the most beautiful beaches in the Netherlands. And since the North Sea and Lake Grevelingen almost meet here, you can expect quite a natural spectacle. From secluded beaches where you can enjoy the fresh air to wild waves that surfers try to conquer. In the garden, you can spot deer and rabbits, and on the beach, you can admire gray seals with their pups.

Within strolling distance, beach pavilions pop up on both sides. Far enough not to bother you, close enough to walk there. At least if you get that far because this newly built home blends in with nature, and thanks to the large windows, it feels like you're living outside, in the middle of those dunes. Even washing dishes becomes a feast. The well-chosen furniture and the wood stove add some extra atmosphere and coziness that makes you recharge here wonderfully and in peace. You live with the seasons and the natural garden has been supplemented with local plant species such as sea buckthorn, wild broom, elderberry, sea grass and spurge. The better island life, in other words.
