In the ^12th century, the Lords of Straten had their residence built here, near the church of Varsenare: Hof van Straeten. It features a lush, walled park that, centuries later, still impresses visitors today. The enclosed castle grounds feature a^19th-century castle, an orangery, an ice cellar, a coach house, and an impressive avenue lined with double rows of oak, beech, and poplar trees that lead you to all this protected beauty. An arrival in style, indeed.

The restored gatehouse has been transformed into an Adults Only B&B and features three serene, character-filled rooms: Elm, Linden, and Oak. Each is decorated with natural materials that complement this lush setting. The B&B has its own lounge with a fireplace and garden views, a dining room with an honesty bar, and you can also relax in the adjacent, wild garden. This walled castle park also boasts centuries-old giants. Reason enough to kick off your shoes and explore the private grounds. Whether you’re reading in the shade of your favorite tree, strolling along the large pond, or discovering the food forest and its wild pools, you’re sure to find peace here. So take a deep breath in and out.

Hof van Straeten is a screen-free zone, so there are no televisions —neither in the rooms nor in the common area. There’s plenty to see here, though: from early morning until late at night, you can fully immerse yourself in the surrounding nature. You can park your bikes in the covered bike shed, where you can also charge them right away, and there are several charging stations in the parking lot.
