About this place
Changing tack. That's what Nele, the hostess at Huis Alfons, did. And thank goodness she did, because thanks to that career switch, she opened her own B&B in her hometown of Mechelen. A place where you are immersed in her excellent taste and style. Huis Alfons is housed in a modernist building from the 1930s, designed by architect Alfons Roose. He also designed the toy museum, numerous private homes, and gave this B&B its name. His refined, no-nonsense style sets the tone. In the three guest rooms, his clear, clean lines are accentuated with a carefully considered mix of vintage design and new designs.
The ground floor Room 00 features an angular fireplace and original tiles and offers a view of the pedestrian passage. One floor up, in Room 01, gray-blue tones set the tone and thanks to the bay window, you can look out over the Dijle river that babbles right outside the door. Room 02 awaits in the eaves of the roof, with hints of terracotta and ochre and a truss that creates space. Mechelen lies at your feet because you are right in the heart of the city. So you can enjoy strolling from one boutique to another terrace. Or enjoy city life in style. Nele will be happy to whisper her secret tips to you.
We ❤️ that every room has plenty of space
