More French than France itself. That's La Maison Carré. Not only will you be staying in a ^16th-century ferry house, but you'll also be doing so in one of the most beautiful villages in France. Angles-sur-l'Anglin is a picturesque spot justan hour's drive from Poitiers. Almost as beautiful as this romantic little place, which has been lovingly and patiently restored by Jan and Liesbet.

This place for 2 is found on the banks of the river Anglin and lets you look out on the castle ruins. And as soon as you can, you'll enjoy the outdoors here. Under the giant Magnolia Grandiflora or on your private beach on the river. Aperitifs in the shade or on the barque while you float languidly on the water? Inside, it's just as idyllic. You have 3 floors at your disposal. On the ground floor, next to the entrance hall is the authentic and very original bathroom, with its original tiles and double shower. And you brush your teeth with a view of the river.

One floor up you discover the open living space where wonderful light enters. Thanks to those thick walls, it is wonderfully cool in summer while it warms up quickly in winter. And another floor higher, in the ridge, under that robust truss awaits a blissful bed with linen sheets. Fall asleep with the murmur of the river and wake up as soon as the birds begin to chirp. Parking is at the back of the orchard. As we said, it doesn't get any more French than this.
