A quiet valley surrounded by greenery where you can leave the whole world behind and find paradise and inner peace. Welcome to Land van Engelingen, tucked away in Haspengouw. This story begins in 2010 when Freddy set off on foot with a donkey to Compostela and returned three months later feeling inspired. He wanted to share the hospitality he had experienced. In the quiet, green valley of the Herk, he stumbled upon a centuries-old watermill with 7 hectares along the babbling Herk. And so Freddy and Lieve set about renovating it sustainably, with Freddy handling every stone and the couple putting their heart and soul into this life project. First, they tackled the garden, then the rest followed. Anyone arriving here today feels as if they have stepped into an idyll in the south. A fairytale with a lush vegetable garden and endless natural gardens full of buttercups, berries, grapevines, and dozens of varieties of pear and apple trees. Neatly finished with fairy lights to complete the fairytale feeling.

Right in the middle of all that greenery: an ecological swimming pond, sauna, Finnish kota with fireplace, and a 150 m² conservatory. Or roll out your yoga mat in a lovely sheltered spot . In the orchard, a detached cabin, the Buitenhuis, stands out, with a view of the eleven cuddly donkeys. Next to it, around the cozy courtyard, you will find four more ecological vacation homes. Each one is charmingly decorated and all have their own private garden and outdoor oven. From the estate, you can cross a small bridge, with or without a donkey, to enter a seemingly endless nature reserve. Not that you necessarily feel the need to spread your wings here. Land van Engelingen has more than 10 terraces and plenty of natural entertainment. Just being here is an experience in itself. Want a little more?
