About this place
In the Semois valley, in Gros-Fays, one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia, a hunter's lodge dating from 1850 appears at the end of a dead-end street: Le nid de boue. An authentic place with too much character not to share. And although Kathleen and Gert's mud nest, with its many crooked beams, feels centuries old, this barn has been very inventively decorated with local wood.
On the open ground floor, a lovely, sleek eat-in kitchen with sofa and an additional sofa by the window, just next to the pellet stove. The place to stare into the nook. One floor up awaits the living space, equipped with a blissful corner parlor and multiple levels. And while rocking in your hanging chair, you can try to fathom that ingenious layout or peer at the greenery stretching out before you.
Because this floor borders with a large sliding window to the terrace and the garden. That garden is full of hidden corners and an extra, higher terrace, good for 2 deck chairs and an endless panorama of rolling meadows and fields . Kathleen and Gert label the garden as a 'work in progress', the couple dreams of a food forest in which there is something to pick, pick or harvest every season. Reason enough to return regularly!
We ❤️ the pure, timeless character
