One family tree is a bit longer than the other. The gorgeous Lozer Castle has been run by the della Faille d'Huysse family for over 400 years. That is, since 1654. At the age of²⁶, Bernard della Faille d'Huysse, the firstborn, became lord of the castle and exchanged Brussels for Lozer. From city dweller to tree pruner and renovator of the neglected castle grounds. The young couple made a plan, organized work weekends, and quickly and philosophically tackled one room after another. And when that task was complete, they focused on the1850 annex, a small castle in itself, which was converted into a bed and breakfast and vacation apartment. The bed and breakfast has five elegant rooms in which numerous historical castle elements have been incorporated. For example, the Baroque room was given the ^18th-century four-poster bed that was in the attic, two antique wrought-iron beds that became one appeared in the Eiffel room, and the old window of the pigsty serves as a mirror. Each room tells a piece of family history. The holiday apartment is no different, and from the spacious living room you can admire the 13-hectare castle park. Want to relax by the ponds? In the evening, the baron and baroness look out from their castle at the annex and are satisfied. Because even a castle only comes to life when it is lived in to the full.
