If you were to draw a straight line between Toulouse and Montpellier, Mas de la Costete would lie right on it. And yet this place is anything but straight. This old silk factory is now a vacation home full of hidden nooks and crannies, sturdy arches and vistas, mezzanines, and terraces. It offers all the luxury you could want, without compromising on authenticity. So, for the first few days, you'll wander around a bit dazed before you fully understand which door leads where. Or instant vacation feeling. And although you can stay here with 8 people, you have more than enough privacy. Some rooms have their own entrance, a separate sitting room, or their own terrace.

There are plenty of corners to relax solo or with the rest of your party. In winter, the wood-burning stove in the living room provides some extra warmth and you can gather around the rustic farm table; in summer, the thick walls guarantee the necessary coolness and you can take your time to admire the centuries-old stone arch. Or do you want to quickly finish something in the equally charming office?

Stone walls and century-old beams are combined with travertine and lime throughout, keeping the original character of this mas intact. Foodies are also right at home here, in the kitchen you'll spot a 5-burner gas stove as well as 2 electric ovens, a steam oven, an American fridge and even a food dehydrator. Matter of really enjoying those local, sun-ripened ingredients.

In the garden a blissful infinity pool with terrace, outdoor kitchen and, of course, rosemary, honeysuckle, lavender, fig trees and ... mulberry trees. A tribute to the former silk factory. The view of the valley of the Jaur and the surrounding hills you get everywhere for free on top. Moreover, from here you stroll along an old donkey trail in about ten minutes to the ever-fresh gorges. The local grocery store and the necessary cafes and brasseries are also within walking distance. So unabashed surplaining.
