Grandmothers can never be honored enough. That’s why Mira was determined, at all costs, not only to keep her dear grandparents’ home within the family, but also to share it with others. Just as “Meme” Marie-Louise, Meme Wiesje, did herself. She was a beloved figure in the small town of Ettelgem, and her door was always open to friends, family, and fellow villagers. Today, Mira keeps that legendary hospitality alive.

This vacation home for 6 is located in the center of Ettelgem, between Ostend and Bruges. It has been stylishly restored and has a distinctly contemporary look. Grandma Wiesje and Grandpa Cyriel would be amazed. Just like back then, the kitchen is still the heart of the home. It has everything you need, from a Nespresso coffee machine and a combi-oven to an honesty bar stocked with local ice cream. In the adjoining living area, you can relax by the cozy gas fireplace, watch TV, or play a board game.

The large 2,000-meter garden has been restored to its former glory, and you can enjoy it in the shade of the tall trees. But you can just as easily have lunch or dinner outdoors—the electric barbecue is already set up and ready to go. The three unique bedrooms—Marie-Louise, Cyriel, and Léon—each feature a king-size bed and an en suite bathroom with a walk-in shower, sink, and toilet. Two of the rooms are located on the first floor, while the wheelchair-accessible room is on the ground floor. Upon request, Mira will provide an extra crib and high chair.

Just 350 meters away—less than a 5-minute walk—you’ll discover the beautiful Provincial Park De Hoge Dijken, also known as Roksemput. A green oasis with a walking trail, bird-watching huts, a playground, and fishing piers. You’ll find even more walking fun in the nearby Maskobossen in Jabbeke, and if you enjoy biking, you can pedal to De Haan (16 km), Ostend (12 km), Bruges (18 km), and Sluis (33 km). Of course, doing absolutely nothing in the garden is just as welcome!
