About this place

Right between Liège and Namur, in the beautiful Hoyoux river valley, Els and Michel found their Miel le gite. This was no coincidence, as the couple had long been in love with this unspoiled region between the Sambre and Meuse rivers. For years, this region had been the setting for long family walks, blissful bike rides in the countryside, and weekend getaways with friends. And so, one fine day, the couple stumbled upon a dilapidated ruin.

The beginning of a new story. One into which Els could put all her passions. After all, the lady of the house loves the finer things in life and is blessed with an eye for detail. That combo resulted in scavenger hunts at local flea markets and close collaborations with local artisans. Old materials were reused in abundance, furniture was given a second life and the old beehives that were there promptly gave this vacation rental an original name. Don't worry, the bees are doing well, flourishing in a new spot nearby.

The whole place was decorated, inside and out, with lots of love making this gite feel super homey and big enough for 4 adults and 2 kids. Relax by the wood burning stove, drink coffee on the high terrace, stroll through the large valley garden and in the meantime enjoy some local specialties, from ice creams to goat cheeses to a good piece of meat. After all, Els and Michiel know exactly which farmer to score which top ingredients from. Or local goodies as icing on the cake!
