An authentic square farmhouse in the Pajottenland region. That’s Pachthof 1860. Located less than 2 km from the illustrious Gaasbeek Castle, it boasts 5 stars and can accommodate 25 guests. Close to Brussels, yet surrounded by nature. The place exudes peace and quiet, and the owners—who live in the other wing—want to keep it that way. So this isn’t the place to throw a party, but rather to recharge and make memories. The owners set the example years ago. They traded city life for this peaceful retreat, moved into the main house themselves, and converted the massive granary into this stylish vacation home. It’s a labor of love for the whole family.

That makes sense, because this place has everything you could possibly want. From a fully equipped kitchen to a cozy living room with a pool table and a wood-burning stove, plus two additional sitting areas where you can retreat for some peace and quiet. Board games are ready and waiting, but you can just as easily sit here and read a book in silence. There are six spacious rooms spread over two floors, and each room has its own bathroom.

Outside, in the large, hedged garden, there’s plenty to do as well—thanks to the soccer goal, the volleyball net, the spikeball net, and the petanque court. And at this certified bike-friendly lodging, you’ll not only have access to a locked bike storage area, but also to charging stations, repair kits, and a place to rinse off your bike. So it’s perfect for gravel bikers, mountain bikers, and casual riders alike. Prefer to explore on foot? Good news—you’re staying right on the hiking trail network, so you can easily stroll to the castle or discover one of the gueuze breweries while your car charges in the private parking lot. And once you’re back, round off the day in style on the terrace as the Pajottenland stretches out before you. Or would you rather pop into the sauna first?
