About this place

Sophora is the story of three sisters, Leen, Rosemie, and Sofie, and the generations that came before them. Here in Elst, a hamlet near Brakel, where their grandparents once lived and ran their butcher shop, a brand-new vacation home has been built. It's a way of passing on the hospitality they experienced here as children. The bricks and mortar may be new, but the love for the region and family has been ingrained here for centuries.

In the walled, natural garden not only nooks to snack, climb, rest and play, but also a heated pool, sauna AND the honey tree, or sophora, which gave this vacation home its name and brings coolness in summer. And its roots refer delicately to the family's deep roots in Elst. A love story that began as early as 1871. To say that the sisters have a solid network in the neighborhood is an understatement. So there is no shortage of local tips.

The vacation home is in the shadow of the church and as soon as the gate swings open, you step into your own vacation world where you taste that hushed village life. Or on foot to the bakery or at the café and still wonderfully sheltered. Inside, you feel just as secure. A bright open staircase hall connects the three floors, the walls have received a layer of mineral paint or plaster and there is plenty of space so you can both do yoga or hold meetings. So suitable for girlfriends, families and colleagues. And for cyclists who want to attack the Flemish Ardennes, there is a locked bike shed.

The sisters have thought everything through. Each room has its own bathroom, the open kitchen is lockable with sliding doors (handy if you hire catering ) and both the garden, the pool, the sauna and one of the rooms is wheelchair friendly. And their grandparents? They might be proud of their enterprising granddaughters.
