About this place

A name can say everything. For generations, 't Hov was'the court' where the whole family gathered. A place you would rather not sell, so Ellen had her parental home renovated into a comfortable vacation home, neatly bordered by a beech hedge. Too remote to live there yourself, but wonderfully away from the world when you are on vacation. Neighbors are only in the distance, so you can enjoy a 360° view of the fields where the Great War took place. Tyne Cot Cemetery is barely 1 km away as the crow flies. Silence all around. There are plenty of panoramic spots, so feel free to drag some bistro chairs to just the right corner. Family memories pop up everywhere here. Inside and outside. From the authentic tiled floor that Ellen was embarrassed about her whole life, to grandma's cupboard, to that giant weeping willow that grew when a nephew simply pushed a branch into the ground. A homemade pallet construction allows you to gather around the fire pit, a swing blows along with that weeping willow, and around the house, the young ones can skate, race, or tour to their heart's content while the horses approach curiously. Between the lime trees is a clothesline, behind the house is an old corn silo with a large supply of wood and a wood cart that used to be used to transport calves. The icing on the cake is Maria, Ellen's mother, who regularly strolls by, ready to chat in West Flemish.
