Rudi and Nancy are such fans of Greece that they started looking for a place to spend more time there even before they retired. That's how they ended up in Crete, where they had their brand-new Villa Maquis built just a kilometer from the authentic village of Vamos. Here, time stands still, yet you are only half an hour from Chania and about 45 minutes from Rethymnon. The villa is available to rent in the summer, and the rest of the time the couple enjoy the Greek lifestyle here themselves. And that, of course, is effortless.

The villa accounts for 280 square meters, occupies 3 floorsand is located on top of a hilltop, some 300 meters above sea level. Spectacular views all around so, you overlook both the mountain range of Lefka Ori and the bay of Souda. A winding road brings you to all this vacation bliss, the gate swings open and then you have an enclosed private domain of 4,800 m², filled with the typical local flora, herbs, olive trees and a saltwater pool of 12 by 3 meters. And yes, there is also a perfectly equipped outdoor kitchen. Living like a Greek, in other words.

No neighbors, no overlooking, just breathtaking panoramas and relaxation nooks galore. This place has no less than 4 terraces so you can enjoy any time of the day. Solo or with your company. And each terrace has its own view and assets. This also applies to the 4 spacious bedrooms, invariably with private bathroom and terrace. The master bedroom, for example, lets you look out over the white mountains and serves up the most beautiful view of the bay, but the other rooms also have their own hideaway where you can lounge or relax undisturbed.

And those who have had enough swimming can kick it up a notch in the fitness center. Good to know, both the house and the outdoor areas are wheelchair-friendly and an elevator takes you smoothly from one floor to the next.
