About this place
The Westhoek region has a new gem. One that is both old and has a story to tell. Because in the middle of the Bethoosterse Broeken nature reserve in Zarren stands the imposing Water Tower. This robust piece of heritage was built by the Germans in 1916, during the First World War, and served as a water station for the nearby train station. A place steeped in history.
And that industrial brick construction has stood the test of time with verve. In fact, the hipped roof with red tiles, the iconic windows and the solid brick walls still look like they did back then, only Alex and Annelien gave the whole thing a luxurious update and extension so that today you intensely enjoy the peace, quiet and many heritage details here. And from the hot tub in the vast enclosed garden you can admire the endless starry sky.
The village lies across the railroad line and endless fields, meadows and nature surround this heritage site. Roeselare, Ypres and Bruges are only half an hour away and nearby a walking and cycling network traverses the Bethoosterse Broeken. All rooms offer a view of that boundless greenery and the swing and the tree house in the garden ensure that even the kids love to hang out here. They also have 2 cheerful rooms while the parental can claim the top floor. With en suite bathroom, phenomenal views and tower romance!
