Living authentically with a healthy dose of rebellion. That's what Stefano and Elisabeth do at Agriturismo Le Mole sul Farfa, their eco-farm an hour and a half from Rome. Stefano grew up in the Italian capital, fell in love with the hills around Rome as a child, and in 1999, together with friends, bought several olive groves to start a farm in the middle of that unspoiled landscape. A few years later, Elisabeth, a Flemish art history student, ended up there to do volunteer work. One thing led to another, and now the family has two children.

The poetic agriturismo includes a charming ecological guesthouse with elegant rooms and sweeping views of the Farfa Valley. You will stay in an undiscovered, intact part of Italy, among centuries-old olive groves. In the garden waits a well hidden swimming pool where you will enjoy the great nothingness amidst the greenery. On the property you'll discover the ancient ruins of a Roman villa and from here you'll make hours of even multi-day walks to the surrounding mountains, villages and neighborhood towns of Spoleto, Tivoli and Viterbo. Plus, Elisabeth gets down to business with home-grown and local ingredients and serves delicious vegetarian dishes. From homemade jams over homemade pasta to a four-course menu. So stop by in style.
